Have a 98® Galaxy 2.0 Ghia X

The Climate Control seems to be stuck on HOT and whatever I try to do to turn the temperature down, it permanently blows out HOT air, regardless of any of the heat / airflow settings.

I suspect that a 'valve' must be stuck somewhere and preventing it from opening/closing, but am not really sure how the climate control functions or controls the air flow or teperature. If it was standard (not climate control) temperature controller then i would assume the temperature knob is connected to such a valve, but with the digital setup on the climate control headunit I am a bit lost.

Anyone have any ideas what I can do to fix this problem or what the problem might be?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

i had the same problem with my sharan, basically the vents behind the centre of the dash had jammed open. it cost quite a few quid to fix i'm afraid to say.

Thanks, BUT....

I dont think that the vents sticking would affect the fact that only hot air is being circulated. If this was the case then it would be the direction of circulation that would be stuck and NOT the temperature.

Probably the motor/solenoid that operates the water bleed valve somewhere around the heater matrix

gavtheoldskater is not talking about the dash vents, but the flaps inside the air ducting that direct air flow either over the heater matrix or the air con evaporator. If one of these has stuck and is permanently directing air over the heater matrix (and it sounds quite possible from your description) then you will need your entire dash out to fix it....

AFAIK the cc models have air flaps controlled by servo motors. The flap is stuck in the hot position. Try a search, I'm sure theres information and even photos about these. I have a feeling you can get to these either via the glove box or the radio housing.

I would try cycle the CC from HI to LO several times (waiting 30 secs in between) to see if it "unsticks" the flap. Another thing to try is to disconnect the battery for 2- 3 mins (check you have your radio code before you do this) as I have seen the CC software get screwed up at least once.
